“Brački pupoljci”, non-goverment organization, is an association of parents of children with special needs, and the only institution on the island of Brač that offers social services to children with developmental disabilities. Support to families through family counseling is provided, children access the necessary therapies faster and more easily, and families are supported with information necessary for integration into regular schools and kindergartens. Thanks to the association, children socialize, parents exchange experiences and are guided in the first steps in seeking all forms of help.
The association has equipped the premises in Splitska with didactic materials and electronic equipment through various projects. That has enabled high-quality and efficient working conditions, and the base for implement existing projects and create new ones.
The Brački pupoljci association, which has 90 members from all municipalities on the island of Brač, of different ages and disabilities, has been expanding its support network on the island and beyond since its inception. Also, the association warns the general public about the difficulties encountered by people with disabilities, and participates in the creation of state laws.
The association received several valuable awards for its work. The association aims to improve socialization, which will allow children a certain degree of independence within their capabilities, thereby making life easier for the entire family.
Our special children are no longer separated from their families due to schooling and necessary therapies and do not end up in institutions in the city. Young families ultimately stay on their native island and their lives are made easier.
